Richard "Dick" J. Sargent, 82, of Kokomo passed away at 5:10 PM, on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at North Woods Village, Kokomo. He was born, the brother of Lorraine Brown, Hobbs, NM and Norbert J. Sargent, Rockford, IL, on January 25, 1929 in Chicago, IL to the late John and Lucille (Kedzierski) Sargent. He graduated from the University of Illinois, and then went to serve with the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Dick married Virginia (Imbler) Sargent on September 2, 1978, and she preceded him in death on April 25, 2011. Dick worked for 21 years as a purchasing agent with Kroeschell Engineering, retiring in 1993. Dick's late wife, Virginia, was the highlight of his life, and he always carried a picture of them together over his heart.

Dick is survived by his step-daughters, Jill Dean Dowden, Palatka, FL, Sherry (Bob) Bagley, Palm Coast, FL and Barbara (Mark) Carillon, Orange Park, FL.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Virginia Sargent.

There will be a graveside service held for Dick at Crown Point Cemetery, 1101 East Sycamore Street, Kokomo. The service will take place on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Deacon Ron Morrow officiating, and with military rites provided by the local VFW and Army representatives. Contributions can be made in Dick's memory to the Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Kokomo where he attended for many years.
