Nelda June Rude, 84, Kokomo, passed away at 7:25 PM Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in her residence. She was born June 15, 1927 in Howard County to the late Harold and Veda (Myers) Roth. On May 18, 1943 in Kokomo, she married Omer L. Rude; and he survives.
Nelda attended Howard Township School. She was a home-maker and had worked at J & L Produce. She was a member of the Chapel Hill Christian Church, and also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Mexico, IN where she had served as Worthy Matron, and also was a member of Home Economics Clubs in Howard County and later in Miami County.
Surviving is her husband; Omer L. Rude, Kokomo, one son and a daughter in law; Dave and Mary Rude, Tucson, Arizona, three daughters and sons in law; Mary Ann and Kevin Angell, Montpelier, Vermont, Myra and Todd Moser, Kokomo, Barbara and Jerald Harkness, Indianapolis, six grandchildren; Charlie and Sam Angell, Chase and Drew Moser, Kara and Kiley Harkness, sister; Jean Miller, Kokomo, and an aunt; Annagene Welsh, Kokomo. Also surviving is a brother in law; Wayne Mast.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons; Rex Rude and Dennis Rude, and one sister; Waneta Mast.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, January 30, 2012 at Chapel Hill Christian Church, 2600 West Alto Road, with Pastor Steve Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Mast-Hensler Cemetery in Howard County. Friends may visit with the family from 2-6 PM Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street and from 1:30 PM until time of service on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Foundation, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home on Sunday and at the church on Monday, or you may make a contribution directly on their website at www.stjoseph.stvincent.org.
